Updates from the International Softwood Conference

In early October, American Softwoods representative, Charles Trevor, attended the International Softwood Conference (ISC) which was held online due to COVID-19. The International Softwoods Conference exists so that producers and users of wood and wood products can engage in dialogue on markets and resolve any bilateral issues. There were fewer presentations in this year’s conference than there have been previously, and COVID-19 was widely addressed. For the second year in a row, problems related to the Mountain Pine Beetle and Spruce Bark Beetle infestations were also a cornerstone of conversation.
Despite the limitations presented by the digital format of the conference, ISC continues to be an invaluable opportunity to gain up-to-date market information on the world trade in softwood products and to network with colleagues.
