SFPA has recently welcomed a new staff member, Alaina Hanson, CPA, who was brought on board October 5 to fulfill the position of Director of Administration. A graduate of Syracuse University, Alaina moved to New Orleans in 2008 to begin her career as a designer. Torn between starting her own business and returning to school, Alaina chose to go into accounting. A sharp turn from her art-focused career, accounting was a natural choice for Alaina, who has always been good with numbers and enjoys problem-solving. Alaina graduated in 2012 from the University of New Orleans’ Pre-CPA program and spent four years working in public accounting before making the move to industry accounting in early 2016. Industry accounting has allowed Alaina to find a better life balance, participate in various duties, and learn new skills outside of accounting such as office management and human resources.
