In early December, American Softwoods representatives exhibited at the Cairo Wood Show in Nasr City, Egypt to promote American softwood products and acquire more knowledge of the Egyptian market for American lumber. Additionally, the trip helped to establish relationships with leading Egyptian lumber importers.
While this was the first time American Softwoods has exhibited at this show, the trip was part of a sustained effort to develop the Egyptian market. Past trips have included a market assessment visit in 2017 and visits in 2018 and 2019 to deliver educational seminars in Cairo, Damietta, and Alexandria. Thanks to past efforts in the area, representatives were able to anticipate a that there might be a lack of awareness of American softwood products by show attendees. Aided by samples, exhibitors used this opportunity to educate visitors about American softwood species, grades, and sizes.
