Any manufacturer of U.S. domestic Southern Pine lumber (whether from the log, from rough green or remanufactured) and shipped whether treated or untreated, from the Member’s plant or plants, irrespective of the destination of such shipments (including member shipments to a member’s distribution center) “Lumber” shall mean a manufactured product derived from a softwood log in a sawmill, or in a sawmill and planing mill, which, when rough, shall have been sawed, edged, and trimmed at least to the extent of showing saw marks in the wood on the four longitudinal surfaces of each piece for its overall length, and which has not been further manufactured other than by cross cutting, ripping, resawing, joining crosswise and/or endwise in a flat plane, surfacing with or without end matching, and working. Lumber Mills also pay dues on lumber purchased for treating, laminating or component manufacturing.
International Lumber Mill
Any Non-U.S. manufacturer of Southern Pine lumber. (manufacturer of Southern Pine lumber defined above in Lumber Mill category.)
Any company engaged in the treatment/processing of Southern Pine lumber provided however, that any company eligible for “Lumber Mill” or “International Lumber Mill” membership cannot become a Treater member. A Treater member that also qualifies as a Laminator and/or Component Manufacturer shall pay dues on all applicable categories. “Treatment/Processing” of Southern Pine lumber shall mean preservative treatment or modification of wood for the purpose of wood protection as received from a sawmill.
Any company engaged in laminating/processing Southern Pine lumber provided however, that any company eligible for “Lumber Mill”, or “International Lumber Mill”, cannot become a Laminator member. A Laminator member that also qualifies as a Treater and/or Component Manufacturer shall pay dues on all applicable categories. “Laminating/Processing” of Southern Pine Lumber shall mean fabrication or further manufacture of Southern Pine Lumber as received from a sawmill, including by way of illustration but not limitation, all fabrication and/or manufacture of glued laminated timber.
Any company engaged in manufacturing and selling Southern Pine trusses, wall panels, related structural components and/or subcomponents. Provided however, that any company eligible for “Lumber Mill”, or “International Lumber Mill” membership, cannot become a Component Manufacturer member. A Component Manufacturer member that also qualifies as a Treater and/or Laminator shall pay dues on all applicable categories.
Any allied business of the forest products industry is eligible, including distributors/wholesalers, machinery manufacturers, exporters, wood preservative suppliers and others in support of the association’s objectives. One cannot qualify for Associate Membership if eligible for one of the above membership categories.
